The product, a three-piece penguin-themed set, sold 107,200 units in the U.S. and 8,800 in Canada, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The set includes a white embroidered penguin bodysuit, gray hooded cardigan and a matching pair of pants. Carter’s sold the product sized for newborns up to 24-month-olds.
According to the recall listing, the cardigan’s toggle button can detach and pose a choking risk.
“Carter’s received three reports of children putting a detached toggle button in their mouths,” the listing said. “No injuries have been reported.”
National retailers including Bon-Ton, Burlington Stores, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Ross and Toys “R” Us sold the set between July 2017 and March 2018.
