Sunchine Inspection Visits Relevant Authorized Institutions of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia

Recently, Mr Francois Shi, General Manager of Sunchine Quality Control Technology Service Co., Ltd. (Sunchine Inspection), led a delegation to Malaysia to visit the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and its authorized institutions, including CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd, Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM), and the Industrialised Building System (IBS) Centre.

The delegation held in-depth discussions with these institutions on strengthening cooperation between China and Malaysia in construction inspection, testing, certification, standards alignment, and conformity assessment.

At CIDB Holdings Sdn Bhd, both sides reviewed their previous cooperation achievements. In June 2024, a CIDBH delegation visited Sunchine Inspection and signed a strategic cooperation agreement. During this latest visit, both parties further clarified future cooperation priorities, including standards alignment, information sharing, and the development of inspection and certification services.

At the Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM), discussions focused on construction material testing methods, steel structure product inspection, sampling procedures, laboratory technical standards, and factory inspections for product certification. The visit established a strong foundation for future technical cooperation. As a research institution under CIDB, CREAM undertakes and supports various research projects in the construction sector to contribute to Malaysia’s construction policy objectives.

The delegation also visited the Industrialised Building System (IBS) Centre, where they gained an understanding of quality-control procedures covering the production and on-site installation of six major categories of industrialised building system products, including prefabricated components.

As Malaysia’s official authority responsible for the Industrialised Building System, IBS oversees the standards, promotion, assessment, and approval of industrialised construction products.

Sunchine Inspection expressed its commitment to leveraging its third-party inspection and conformity assessment capabilities to support IBS-related activities in China and help Chinese construction-material manufacturers better understand and meet Malaysian market-access requirements. Sunchine also expressed its intention to make future cooperation with IBS an important platform for promoting “soft connectivity” in certification under the Belt and Road Initiative, supporting greater China–Malaysia construction industry cooperation.

This series of visits further strengthened Sunchine Inspection’s relationships with Malaysia’s key construction-sector institutions and provided strong support for expanding into the Southeast Asian market and promoting high-quality cooperation and coordinated development between the Chinese and Malaysian construction industries.
