Botswana BOBS New Regulations Released: List of Controlled Products has been updated and effected from April 01, 2024!

The Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) recently announced the change of the name of its compliance certification project from the Standards Imports Inspection Regulations (SSA) to the Standard (Compulsory Standard) Regulation(SCSR) . It also expanded and amended the list of regulated products under the Botswana SCSR, which will come into effect on April 1, 2024.

The new regulated list of controlled products has been extended to following 7 product categories:

BUILDING&CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS
MECHANICAL PRODUCTS
ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS
AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS
AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS
CHEMICALS PRODUCTS
FOOD PRODUCTS

From 01st April 2024, the above regulated products will require a Mandatory Certificate of Conformity (CoC) in order to do customs clearance at Botswana destination.

The following documents are required to apply for a Botswana Certificate of Conformity (CoC) :
1.HS code
2. Proforma invoice/contract
3. Test report
4. Inspection report issued by Sunchine Inspection
5. Packing list, commercial invoice,
6. Bill of Lading, Certificate of origin

In 2021, with its excellent business and technical capabilities, Sunchine Inspection was officially approved and accredited by the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) ,became one of only six third party notified bodies(NB) in the world authorized by the Government of Botswana to issue Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for the regulated goods exported to Botswana from worldwide!
