Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources adds new list of regulated products.
Regulations effective as of April 17, 2025
According to the latest notification from the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization(SASO), the list of products regulated by the former Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has been expanded by five new categories as of April 17, 2025, specifically: cardboard, formica sheets, baby diapers, plastic pipes, and clay pipes.
The detailed list of new products is as follows:
When submitting an application for an SCoC for a product batch certificate through the SABER platform, importers will be required to attach an importer’s declaration of approval from the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and a commitment to comply with the Code. As of April 17, 2025, new controlled products, in addition to those already controlled, will not be able to be certified on the SABER platform without Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources approval documentation.
These new Saudi regulations aim to improve the level of safety and transparency of imports and demonstrate the growing importance given by SASO to the safety and quality of products imported into Saudi Arabia.
