Standards Institution(SLSI).

Certification Process
- Submission of Application (RFC) + Initial Documents
- Exporters/Manufacturers need to fill out the Request for Certification (RFC)
- Submit product technical data, test reports, packing lists, invoices, origin information, etc.
- Document Review
- Sri Lanka Standards Institution(SLSI) or its authorized certification body, such as Sunchine Inspection, conducts checks on the completeness and compliance of the materials.
- Goods Inspection
- Inspection company at the export destination conducts on-site inspections of packaging, labels, quantity, consistency of HS codes.
- Confirm that it matches the application documents.
- Sampling and Laboratory Testing
- Conducted by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory
- Testing based on Sri Lankan standards (SLS/NM standards) or international equivalent standards (such as IEC, ISO, Codex, etc.)
- Result Determination
- Qualified → Issue COC (Certificate of Conformity)
- Unqualified → Issue Non-Conformance Report (NCR), and the goods cannot be released
Notes for Exporters&Importers:
- Verify in advance whether the products are included in the mandatory list
- Ensure that the testing institution has ISO/IEC 17025 certification
- The labels must comply with Sri Lankan regulations (for example, food products must indicate the production date/ shelf life, medicines must meet the regulations of the drug administration, electrical appliances must indicate voltage/frequency/safety markings, etc.)
